Wild Life

Cross-platform benchmark tests for the latest smartphones, tablets and lightweight notebooks

3DMark Wild Life cross-platform benchmark for GPU performance

Wild Life

Use 3DMark Wild Life to test and compare the graphics performance of the latest Android, Apple and Windows devices.

Wild Life is a one minute test that measures a device's ability to provide high levels of performance for short periods of time. It mirrors mobile games that are based on short bursts of intense activity. The test uses a 2560 × 1440 rendering resolution before scaling the content to the display.

You can also run the Wild Life benchmark offscreen using Unlimited mode.

Wild Life Stress Test

Use the Wild Life Stress Test to see how the latest Android and Apple devices perform under longer periods of heavy load.

The Wild Life Stress Test runs twenty loops of the Wild Life benchmark. It mimics mobile games that are based on longer, more immersive experiences. Instead of producing a single score, the main result from a stress test is a chart that shows how the device's performance changed during the test.

You can also run the Wild Life Stress Test offscreen using Unlimited mode.

Cross-platform benchmarking

Wild Life shows the advanced rendering techniques and post-processing effects that are possible on the latest mobile devices. Wild Life uses the Vulkan graphics API on Android devices and Windows PCs. On iOS devices, it uses Metal. You can compare benchmark scores across platforms.

Your device must have Android 10 or later and support Vulkan to run the Wild Life benchmark and Wild Life Stress Test.

Sling Shot

Cross-platform benchmark tests for mainstream smartphones and tablets

3DMark Sling Shot benchmark test

Sling Shot

Use 3DMark Sling Shot benchmark to test and compare low-cost Android devices with older iPhone and iPad models.

Sling Shot is an OpenGL ES 3.0 benchmark that tests the full range of API features including multiple render targets, instanced rendering, uniform buffers and transform feedback. The test also includes volumetric lighting, depth of field and bloom post-processing effects. Sling Shot's Graphics tests are rendered at 1920 × 1080 then scaled to your device's display resolution.

You can also run this test offscreen using Unlimited mode to compare CPUs and GPUs.

Sling Shot Extreme

Use 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme to compare mainstream Android smartphones and tablets with older iPhone and iPad models.

Sling Shot Extreme can run using Vulkan or OpenGL ES 3.1 graphics API. In both cases, the rendering resolution is 2560 × 1440. It tests the full range of API features including multiple render targets, instanced rendering, uniform buffers and transform feedback. The test includes volumetric lighting, depth of field and additionally uses Compute Shaders for post-processing effects.

You can also run this test offscreen using Unlimited mode to compare CPUs and GPUs.

Cross-platform benchmarking

When comparing scores across platforms, note that the test results reflect both hardware and software. APIs with low overhead, such as Vulkan and Metal, can deliver more performance than OpenGL ES even when the devices have similar hardware.

Your device must have Android 5.0 or later and support OpenGL ES 3.0 to run Sling Shot and OpenGL ES 3.1 to run Sling Shot Extreme.

API Overhead feature test

Compare Vulkan and OpenGL ES APIs on your mobile device

3DMark API Overhead feature test

Games make thousands of draw calls per frame, but each one creates performance-limiting overhead for the CPU. APIs with less overhead can handle more draw calls and produce richer visuals. The 3DMark API Overhead feature test is an independent test for comparing the performance of Vulkan and OpenGL ES 3.0. See how many draw calls your Android device can handle with each API before the frame rate drops below 30 FPS.

  • Compare the latest graphics APIs
  • Test Vulkan
  • Test OpenGL ES 3.0
