Benchmarks California Consumer Privacy Act Notice

This California Consumer Privacy Act Notice describes how we handle your personal information, the reasons we do so and the rights you have as a California resident regarding your information. If you are not a California resident, then please review the Benchmarks Privacy Notice applicable to you.
This notice applies to California residents who use UL Solutions Benchmarks, including any products, websites or services that are part of the Benchmarks offering (collectively our “Services”). It does not apply to other products, services, websites or companies that you might obtain or interact with through our Services.
Personal Information We Collect
In the last 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers, such as your name, postal address, email address, online identifier, IP address and account name;
- Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute, such as such as the identifiers described above and demographic information you provide to us such as your age;
- Commercial information, such as your account details and information regarding the services you have purchased; and
- Internet or electronic network activity information, such as information regarding how you interact with our website, connection information, web browser type and version and device type and operating system.
Sources From Which We Collect Personal information
The categories of sources from which we collected personal information are:
- Directly from you;
- Your browser or device;
- Information generated from your online browsing and usage activity; and
- Our service providers.
Purposes for Collecting Personal Information
We collect and use your personal information for:
Business purposes, including:
- Performing services, including maintaining or servicing accounts, providing customer service, processing or fulfilling orders and transactions, verifying customer information, processing payments, providing analytic services, providing storage or providing other similar services;
- Short-term, transient use, such as non-personalized advertising shown as part of your interactions with us;
- Undertaking internal research for technological development and demonstration;
- Helping to ensure security and integrity to the extent the use of personal information is reasonably necessary and proportionate for these purposes;
- Debugging to identify and repair errors;
- Verifying and maintaining quality and safety of, and improving and upgrading, our services; and
- To fulfill our legal obligations.
Commercial purposes, including:
- Advertising and direct marketing; and
- Market research and analysis.
Sale, Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information in exchange for monetary consideration. However, as further described in the Benchmarks Privacy Notice and Cookie Notice, we use certain analytics and online advertising vendors to track usage of the Services and display online advertising to you that the CCPA considers to be a “sale” or “sharing” of data. The categories of personal information that may be used for these purposes are identifiers and internet or electronic network activity information. You can review and change your cookie preferences at any time by visiting our Cookie Settings Preference Center linked on the Cookie Notice.

In the preceding 12 months, we have not knowingly sold or shared personal information of California consumers under 16 years of age.
In the preceding 12 months, we have not knowingly sold or shared sensitive personal information of California consumers for purposes not specifically authorized under the CCPA.
In the preceding 12 months, we have disclosed the following personal information categories to the following categories of recipients, as further described in the Benchmarks Privacy Notice :

We will generally keep your personal information for as long as it is reasonably necessary and proportionate to provide our Services to you and/or for other purposes explained in this notice or otherwise disclosed to you. Your account is linked to the product key(s) you purchased. To ensure that you do not lose access to your purchases or historical data, we do not automatically delete this data. You are always in control and can ask us to delete your account and all associated personal information at any time. Even if you exercise a right to direct the deletion of data, we may still need to retain and use your information where it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, secure our services, prevent fraud, collect fees, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, protect our legal rights and take other actions permitted by law.
We may also retain aggregated and anonymized information to provide and improve our services.

As a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. These rights include:
- The right to know the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you and how we use it;
- The right to request the deletion of your personal information;
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information;

- The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of your privacy rights.
You may submit a request to exercise your privacy rights by:

To protect your privacy and ensure the security of your personal information, we take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing your request. When you submit a request, we may accordingly ask you to provide specific information that we already have on file (such as name, email address or phone number). If we are unable to verity your identity, we may deny the request and will inform you of the reason for the denial.
Authorized Agent
You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask authorized agents to submit proof of their authority to make a request, such as a valid power of attorney or proof that they have your signed permission. In some cases, we may be required to contact you to verify your identity or confirm the authorized agent has permission to submit the request.

We will revise and update this notice from time to time. When there are significant changes to it, we will let you know on the Benchmarks homepage. If the changes affect the way we use your personal information, we will notify you if we are reasonably able to do so. If you object to this notice, or any changes to it, then please stop using the Services and delete your account.
