Futuremark Releases Consumer Version of SPMark04 Benchmark for Symbian OS -based Mobile Phones
Enables Smart Phone Users to Gauge Performance and Detailed System Information of their Mobile Devices
Saratoga, CA November 22nd, 2004 Futuremark Corporation, the leading provider of performance analysis software and services, today launched a consumer version of its SPMark04 Smart Phone benchmark. SPMark04 has become the industrys most widely used testing tool for Symbian OS-based smart phones and is rapidly becoming the de-facto performance measurement standard for mobile platforms.
SPMark04 provides a comprehensive application for measuring and comparing the performance of mobile devices. Its benefit to the industry is to allow consumers, media, retailers, and operators to objectively compare different mobile phones. Mobile phone manufacturers use SPMark04 to reliably evaluate and compare various semiconductor implementations.
The consumer version of SPMark04 provides owners of compatible mobile phones with previously unavailable information, including detailed performance and comparison data. Now anyone can see exactly how their own phone performs and compares to new models reviewed in the independent media, said Tero Sarkkinen, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Futuremark.
The benchmark has been developed in collaboration with key industry partners, including ATI, Bitboys, Imagination Technologies (PowerVR), Intel, Khronos Group, Neomagic, and NVIDIA under Futuremarks Benchmark Development Program for Smartphones.
SPMark04 consumer version measures the performance of Series 60 and UIQ based smartphones and includes visually stunning 3D game play tests using the OpenGL ES graphics API. For mobile phones without hardware OpenGL ES implementation, the benchmark includes Hybrid Graphics' OpenGL ES API Implementation.
Key Features of SPMark04 consumer version:
- Free download;
- Supports Symbian OS phones using either the Series60 or UIQ user interfaces;
- Comprehensive OpenGL ES 3D test suite to measure graphics performance;
- Detailed system information module that reveals phones technical data
SPMark04 consumer version is immediately available as a free download from Futuremarks web site at www.futuremark.com/download/spmark04.shtml. For corporations, there are SPMark04 Business Edition ($250) and SPMark04 Developers Edition ($6,000 + programming). Both are available at Futuremarks secure web store at www.futuremark.com.
